Teacher OS for Busy Minds: Notion Teacher Planner
PLAN A LESSON ONCE AND TAG EVERY PERIOD THAT GETS IT. The Teacher OS is one Notion workspace for your school year: your sections, units and lesson plans, the stacks of papers waiting to be graded, the families you owe a call, your meetings, your license renewal, and the colored pencils you bought with your own money (again). Each piece turns up on Today when it matters, so the morning opens on today's lessons, the stacks due back this week, the follow-ups you promised, and the early release nobody mentioned until the staff meeting. ADHD friendly, and made for any teacher with a full plate.
IT STARTS WITH YOUR SECTIONS. Add a row for each period or block with the subject, the room and how many students are in it (a number, never a list of names). Then add units to each class and lessons to each unit, and each unit keeps its own count as you go ("1 of 3 taught"). A lesson that goes to Period 2 and Period 4 is one page tagged to both, and it shows up on each section's page.
STUDENTS GO IN BY FIRST NAME OR INITIALS ONLY. No student ID numbers, no health or disability details, and no grades next to a full name. Your school's rules come first, so check them before you add anything about a student. The Teacher OS is built around that: the grading tracker counts stacks of papers and never holds a student's grade, the family log uses initials, meetings keep the logistics only, and the sub plans say where the rosters are kept instead of holding them.
WHAT'S INSIDE
- Today: your ONE thing and top three, today's lessons, grading stacks due back this week, family follow-ups that are due, today's meetings, what's on the school calendar this week, and any renewal it's time to start
- Hard day mode: today's lessons, your ONE thing and That Counts Too, and nothing else
- Plan: units by class, lessons by week from draft to ready to taught, a lesson plan template (warm-up, main lesson, exit ticket, notes for next time), and a list of lessons worth reusing next year
- Grading tracker: one row per stack, with the day you collected it, the day it's due back, how many papers, and where it stands, from to grade through returned
- Sub plans: a sub plan template with the schedule, procedures, where the seating charts and rosters are kept, emergency steps, and who to ask
- Families: a contact log with the date, the student's initials, the section, how you reached out and why, and a follow-up date that lands on Today
- Meetings: staff, team, department and family conferences, with action items going into your Brain Dump, linked back to the meeting they came from
- PD and renewals: your hours, where each certificate is kept, and your license renewal date, which lands on Today 60 days ahead
- Supplies and budget: what you bought, what it cost, whether you or the school paid, whether you kept the receipt, a wish list, and a running out-of-pocket total for the year to hand your tax person
- Year map: back to school, conferences, testing windows, report card dates, early releases and breaks
- Brain Dump: one inbox for every loose thought, plus the Two-Minute List, That Counts Too, and a copy and print queue
- Time Blindness: guess how long a stack will take to grade, log how long it took, and see the minutes per paper
- A row of links at the top of every hub, so you can get anywhere from anywhere in one tap
BLANK DAYS ARE NOT FAILURES. Nothing turns red when a stack is out an extra day. It stays on the list in the same color as everything else until you mark it returned, and the Rejuggle is there for the week the schedule fell apart.
MAKE IT YOURS. Call it whatever fits (Room 214, Ms. Rivera's Year, Fourth Period Survival) and swap the covers from the Change the look page.
HOW IT ARRIVES. You get a one-page PDF with your own private link. Tap the link and click Duplicate, and the whole Teacher OS copies into your Notion workspace, where it works on your computer, tablet and phone. You'll need a Notion account, and the free plan works. Then open Start Here. Everything with "Example" in the name is pretend, so A.R. and the cell parts lab can go once you've seen how things connect.
WHAT YOU GET: a link to duplicate the Teacher OS into your own Notion workspace, delivered as a one-page PDF. Digital download only, nothing ships. Personal use only, please, one copy for one teacher.
If anything looks off, message me and I will make it right.
